Eleanor Edythe Smith, (née Fraser) passed away peacefully early in the evening of July 28 at the Vineyards Residence in Kelowna, BC. Eleanor was just two months shy of her 99th birthday and lived a long and rewarding life.
She is survived by her son Grant, son-in-law Jeff Mitchell, grandsons Sean, James, and Mathew Smith, and grandson Tim Mitchell. She is also survived by her granddaughter Elisabeth Johnstone, (née Mitchell), her husband Jamie, and their children Katie, Hannah, Alex and Emily. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, daughter Vicky Mitchell (née Smith), and her brother Arthur Fraser and sister Lorraine Hoyem (née Fraser).
Eleanor was born, raised, and married in Vancouver, BC. Eleanor and Ernest moved to Montreal, QC for one year just after their marriage, then to Welland, ON for two years, and finally to London, ON where they raised their children. They moved back to Richmond, BC in 1980. Eleanor enjoyed bridge, Newcomers, and lawn bowling, but her real passion was buying/selling collectibles. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 6th at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home, 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver, followed by internment at Mountain View Cemetery.
