It is with immense sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Georgia Larigakis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who passed surrounded by the family she devoted her life to.
Georgia was born in Pallandio , in the Peloponnese region of Greece, and arrived in British Columbia in 1951 at the age of 19. It was there that she met the love of her life, Nicolas, and together they built a family and a legacy. For 40 years, they were pillars of the Okanagan community, owning and operating restaurants and the Desert Motor Inn in Osoyoos — a testament to their hard work, warmth, and spirit of hospitality.
Georgia was a woman of extraordinary generosity. She was a champion of everyone’s success and ensured that no one ever left her table hungry or her presence without feeling embraced and seen. She adored her family above all else and touched countless lives with her kindness, strength, and grace. She will be deeply and forever missed.
Georgia is survived by her sisters, Zmaro and Litza; her daughters, Angela and Konstantina; her grandchildren, Dimitra (Pedro), Basilio (Maricarmen), Athanasio (Daniela), Nicholas (Nathalie), Constantino (Grecia), Stephanie (Austin), and Mijali (Jihye); and her twelve cherished great-grandchildren: Basilio, Kaliopi, Nicolas, Athanasios, Zoe, Georgia, Theodore, Constantino, Adrian, Mixali, Mikaela, and Sophia.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 13th between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 306 E. 11th Ave. Vancouver.
A funeral service will held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 11:30 am at St. George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4500 Arbutus Street, Vancouver. Father Nikolaos Sideras officiating.
Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Ave. Burnaby, at 1:00 pm.
Following the interment service, please join the family for a memorial luncheon at Nostos Taverna, 3162 W. Broadway, Vancouver.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Vancouver General Hospital for their compassionate and attentive care of Georgia during her final days.
“May you all have my luck in your lives.” — Georgia Larigakis
Our mother and yia yia meant more to us
More than words can ever say
To remember all the things we did
Is only a memory away
You were our mother, yia yia and our friend
And it makes us happy
You are free of pain
Our love for you will never end
And you will never suffer again
Rest mother, sleep yia yia,
In time our broken hears will mend
Our tears will dry,
But our love for you will never die,
And our memories will never end.
