Born in Hannover, Germany on April 17, 1930, Gisela Wroblewski (nee Ebeling) immigrated to Canada in 1952, where she was reunited with her fiancé Walter. They got married in Ottawa, then traveled to Vancouver where Gisela fell in love with the city and they decided to stay. She continued to explore all over the Lower Mainland on the bus up until her late 80s, going on many adventures and very long walks.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Irene, granddaughters Nicole and Lisa (Aaron) and great grandson Dean; three surviving siblings Ingrid, Dieter and Juergen, as well as other family in Germany with whom she maintained close relationships.
We will remember Gisela for her good advice, resilience and positive attitude, as well as her delicious soups and baking, and her famous knitted berets.
She was a grandmotherly presence for many and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
She loved gardening, reading, the performing arts and trips to Hawaii, but most of all she treasured connections with her family and friends.
