May 12, 1933 – August 20, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather after a very short battle with heart and kidney failure. He died peacefully and without pain with many loving family members by his side.
Beppe was born in San Fior, Treviso, Italy on May 12th, 1933 to parents Emilia Barrazuol and Emilio Campardo. After experiencing the devastation of war he realized a better life was attainable in another land. At the age of 20 he crossed the Atlantic to Canada in pursuit of a better life. After experiencing the winters of the East he quickly traveled West to paradise. With the initial help of his Barrazuol cousins, he laid the foundation to a prosperous future. Soon he would invite his childhood sweetheart Eugenia to join him on his adventure. After 30+ years in the B.C. construction industry as a concrete foreman contributing to such iconic projects as BC Place, George Massey Tunnel, Peace River Dam and the Georgia Viaducts, Beppe retired to be with his wife. Avid travelers, he enjoyed vacationing with friends and family in Reno, Puerto Vallarta and other warm locales. He was an award-winning bocce player who enjoyed tending to his garden of tomatoes, grapes and figs, watching pro-cycling, hockey and Westerns, puzzle-making, and spending time with his grandchildren.
On May 25th the family honoured Beppe and Eugenia’s 60th wedding anniversary with a surprise celebration. Beppe is survived by his wife Eugenia, daughters Carmen Marin and Paola (Tom Salt), son Dennis (Lisa), grandchildren Gino, Vanessa, Christopher, Justin, Celestina, Olivia, and Julien, brother Severo, sisters Ada and Maria in Italy, Oliva in Belgium, and many other relatives in Vancouver, Ontario, Italy, and Belgium.
Many thanks to Dr. Varghese, nurses Olga, Rai, Tina, Vicki, Harleen and staff of the Telemetry Unit of the Burnaby General Hospital for their loving care of our father.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, August 24th at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver with entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. Informal reception will be held after the entombment at 3:00 pm, venue to be announced following the Mass, for all wishing to attend.
