The youngest of three children of Dr. Gordon and Helen Stephenson (born Rife) Gord was predeceased by his parents and his beloved sister Eileen who died on February 18th of this year. Gord's unexpected passing came as a terrible shock to his loved ones following so closely on the loss of their dear sister Eileen.
Gord attended UBC and made lifelong friendships there. After university Gord travelled to Europe and Morocco with his good friend Norm, Later he travelled extensively in Central and South America.
Gord married Helen Sengbusch in 1978. They had three daughters, Lisa, Carrie and Tanya. Helen decided to go back home to London, Ontario in 1984. Gord followed a year later. After 10 years of marriage, Gord and Helen divorced.
Later, Gord had a 9 year relationship with Estelle Mill in London, Ontario.
After that relationship dissolved, Gord decided to leave London, Ontario, and return to Vancouver. His daughter Carrie joined him in March, 2003. Later he sent for Lisa and Tanya to join him for visits in Vancouver and also in Mexico.
Gord had many interests. He was passionate about Military history and liked to visit the sites of famous battles. Chess was also a strong interest as were hockey and football. He travelled to Central and South America as well as Europe and Morocco and lived for a year near Limon in Costa Rica where he enjoyed that time greatly. He and Eileen also travelled to Ghana, Africa to visit their sister Ann, where she worked for the Canadian International Development Agency.
Gord was taken too soon from his children, relatives and friends. He is fondly remembered by his daughters, his sister Ann and her children Anthony, Hilary and Matthew and he will be sorely missed by them and his friends.
