It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Henry was born in Bredtheim, a rural farming community in Poland on July 3, 1918, and was the youngest of nine children. After losing his father at an early age he was raised by a very strong mother who taught all the children the importance of hard work, commitment and the value of family and friends. At 12 he went into an apprenticeship program to become a Master Sausage Maker. His degree and natural business acumen became the foundation of his career and a success story on its own. After only six months of dating Elizabeth Wilhelm, he knew he had found the woman of his dreams, so much so that he followed her to Canada and they married April 1st, 1950.
Continuing with his strong work ethic, he founded Grimm’s Sausage with his brother and built it into one of the premier sausage manufacturers in Western Canada. His honesty, sincerity, and ethics were exemplary to all his colleagues, family, friends and staff. He was an incredible man that was very proud of his family and always tried to help and mentor family and friends. He is survived by his life long companion, his wife Elizabeth, his sons Harry (Deborah), Rob (Linda) and five wonderful grandchildren, Spencer, Kelsey (Trevor), William, Matthew, and Sarah. He will always be loved and missed but never forgotten. We would like to also thank the staff and support team at Crofton Manor and Verity Home Services for the care they so graciously provided. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice in honour of Henry would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held at Martin Luther Church, located at 505 East 46th Avenue, Vancouver, Saturday April 7th at 1:00 pm. Interment and refreshments to follow.
