It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son Jason Timothy Bedard-Trepanier of Vancouver, BC on October 2, 2025 at the Vancouver General Hospital ICU. He was 40 years old; yet he was young at heart, and that’s what made him special to all of our lives. He was born on December 2, 1984 in Montreal, Quebec and was a truly beloved son, nephew, uncle, brother, cousin, and the bestest friend anyone would be lucky to have. He loved his nieces and nephews to the moon and back (Nevaeh 13, Kevin Jr 10, Danny 8, and Ava-Rose 7) and their father, (his brother), Kevin Gallinger (who was by his brother and mother’s side all the way). His happiest times were when he was surrounded by family, friends, and all the noise that comes with - he relished in it!
He was born to Tina Louise Bedard (mother) from Montreal, Quebec, now residing in Vancouver, BC since 1998 and Michel Trepanier (father) born in Granby, Quebec, now residing in Magog, Quebec. As his parents, we are devastated by this very painful loss. We would like to emphasize his life of happiness, hard work, and constant concern and engagement of family and friends - for which he was always about. He leaves behind his caring Aunts and Uncles (Claude, Gaetanne, Josee, Ginette, his cousin Jonathan, and so many more in Granby) from Quebec who always loved him and were there for him all his life. He loved his whole family and friends so much, it hurt. All he cared about was to bring people together - always. Luckily, his mother and him visited his family in Magog/Granby, Quebec in 2023 where he was floating in happiness to be with all of them.
He worked extremely hard and diligently as a cook and sous-chef in various great restaurants throughout Vancouver since his arrival in 2002. He was very proud of his work. He had so much fun working and playing in Vancouver, especially at English Bay, Cultus Lake, Vancouver Island, and everywhere he could possibly be - he enjoyed every minute. He loved Vancouver. He loved his family. He loved his friends (especially his besties of 23 years, Joel and Erin). He loved being a cook/ sous chef, he was very proud of becoming a sous chef. He loved his cat Hunny. He loved Mallory, his ex-girlfriend of 10 years; although they were no longer a couple, I know he still loved her very much. Now, he can see her in heaven. He also leaves behind his Nana (grandmother mother's side) and Sylvain, Uncle Tim and Paul. He loved his floating island on Cultus Lake, he was so proud of that, and he absolutely loved camping at Cultus Lake with his friends and family - those were some of his best times. He loved his e-motorcycle he had for the past 5 years, he was so proud of that. He was proud of finally getting his license, even as a city kid. He had his last fireworks this summer on his mom’s rooftop in English Bay with his friends and grandmother (mother’s side who he hadn’t seen in 7 years). His heart was so full of love. His spirit was one of a kind, and it will never be replaced. He was always generous with everyone who crossed his path. His final act of generosity was to become an organ donor on his Final Hero Walk to the VGH ICU Organ Donation Operating Room on October 5th, 2025 at 8:00 am - he saved lives before leaving this earth.
Jason, mommy loves you sweetie to infinity. A small intimate farewell/celebration at English Bay will be coming up soon, more will be revealed. The Trepanier family in Granby, Quebec will organise a celebration of life for Jason in their church as well. I cannot express enough of my gratitude and appreciation for all the wonderful support, gentleness, and ultimate care my son received from the Doctors and the Nurses of the ICU at Vancouver General Hospital. They were the absolute best to my son Jason, myself, and all his family and friends who were by his side the whole time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jason’s honour to the Vancouver SPCA, as he loved animals.
