Jeff is survived by his fiancé Gabriella De Angelis, daughter Diana Andrew, mother Marge Skin, sister Melanie Joseph, uncles Murphy Skin, James Skin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jeff is pre-deceased by his father Gaylord Joseph and brother Daniel Andrew.
Jeffrey Michael Andrew (Ras) was born May 3rd, 1976 in Prince George, British Columbia. He was the second child of 3 born to mother Marge Skin, and father Gaylord Joseph.
Circumstances led Jeff and his brother Dan to move to Port Coquitlam, where they lived with their adopted family. Through the trials of adolescence, the bond between Jeff and his brother remained strong. Despite living in the lower mainland, Jeff always stayed in contact with his family in Prince George. He always made sure they were ok, and he let them know he was ok.
From there, Jeff made a multitude of friends who would become family. Through trials and celebrations, they stuck together and supported each other. Jeff worked to support himself, family and friends on the downtown eastside where he became a trusted member of the community, loved and respected. Jeff was a mentor to younger community members. He always made sure everyone was housed, fed and safe. Jeff could often be seen defending women and staff, that’s who he was.
Jeff met his spouse Gabriella in the summer of 2020, it was love at first sight. They met downtown while both serving the community they loved. Their love blossomed and in January 2023 they welcomed their daughter Diana. Nothing made Jeff happier than being a father. Friends of Jeff will say they’ve never seen him happier than when he talked about Diana. Jeff would always show photos of Diana to his many friends with the utmost pride.
Jeff was a very selfless person. When he got sick, he kept it to himself. Jeff worked tirelessly through his illness to support his spouse and daughter. In the last 3 months before his passing, he loved his role as “Mr Mom” as he called it. The gravity of Jeff’s illness didn’t present itself until it was too late, but still in that moment, he stayed brave for his family.
On the morning of March 21rst 2025, surrounded by his spouse, daughter, family and friends, Jeff succumbed to his illness.
He is resting now, and free from the exhaustion and stress of his illness.
The Funeral service will be held on March 31st, 2025 at Glen Haven Chapel, 1835 East Hastings St, Vancouver BC.
