She was born in Victoria BC on April 12, 1924 to Maude and Charles Booth. They moved to Vancouver where she went to school. Her best friend in school Alleen Chown (Smith) joined the RCAF together before marrying. Their friendship lasted until the untimely passing of Alleen and she has missed her very much over her lifetime.
She married Edward J. Warner on August 19, 1944. She leaves behind two daughters, Dianne Warner and Carolyn Boyes; two grandsons, Troy Boyes (wife Erin); and Aaron Boyes (wife Lindsey); four great grandchildren, Aiden, Tyler, Kyla, and AJ. She also leaves behind Dr. Don and Shirley Warner (in-laws), Barbara Warner (in-law) Neices and Nephews: Ann, Matt, David, Kristen, Becky, Stewart, and James.
She also leaves behind an extended family from Alleen and Bill Smith. Craig and Paulette Smith; Rick Smith; Nancy Lupkoski; Mark Smith and Shannon (Smith); and a son from long time friends,Brian Covernton.
There are many friends she has made in her time with us and they all filled her with love, fun, and many good memories that she cherished in life. She had a wonderful sense of humor and truly enjoyed her time with friends.
She worked in St. Regis Hotel in Vancouver and made friends there that she held close right up to the end. She also worked at The Town and Country Inn in Delta where more lasting friendships were made.
Ed and Joyce lived in Richmond 25 years or more after moving from Vancouver. A few years after living on Wagner Drive,Ed became ill and they moved from the house in Richmond to a condo in the Steveston area that overlooked Britannia Shipyards and Mount Baker. With an unending labor of love she attended to Ed's every need while he was able to live at home and then gave up much of her own life to be available every day, two times every day, for his meals and personal care when he was admitted to Minoru Residence. She dedicated her life to his care and never complained but willingly and happily stood right by his side while her own health slipped.
Wherever she and her daughter Dianne went, people would inevitably ask if they were sisters! She was always amused by those moments, Dianne.....not so much! She was a beautiful woman who always looked after her appearance. She was a private and proud person but for many she opened her heart and these people became lifelong friends that she cherished. She was loyal to all she befriended.
At Joyce's request there will be no funeral. Internment in the niche along with Ed at Ocean View will be done by Dianne, Craig, and Paulette Smith.
She will be greatly missed but she is now at peace and in a much better place. She may have left us in body but she will always touch our hearts in spirit, and that will never die.
