In Loving Memory of Mrs. Kam Fung, Ng 1922-2026
It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss, yet also with great gratitude to God, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Kam Fung Ng, who went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2026 in the St. Michael Hospice.
She is now resting peacefully in the loving presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Ng was born on the September 14 of the lunar calendar in 1922 in Taishan, China. At the age of twenty, she married Mr. Chee Tam of Hoiping, China. In her thirties, she moved from China to Hong Kong, where she began a new chapter of her life.
She was the eldest of two children, with one younger brother. During her younger years in Hong Kong, she worked in several Christian organizations and institutions, including the Evangelical Hospital, Evangelical Bible Seminary, the Christian Mission and Alliance, and Alliance Press and other Christian organizations. She worked in cleaning and household duties and also served in the homes of several foreign missionaries.
Her work may have appeared simple in the eyes of the world, but she never considered any honest work to be insignificant. She was hardworking, responsible, faithful, and dependable. Whatever she was asked to do, she did it wholeheartedly. She believed that wherever God placed her, and whatever work He gave her, she could serve Him through it and bless others.
In her sixties, she immigrated to Vancouver, Canada. She later worked caring for children and as a domestic helper. Because of her honesty, reliability, strong sense of responsibility, and genuine love for others, she was deeply appreciated and loved by the families she served.
Yet, if there is one sentence that best describes her life, it would be this:
She was a woman who loved God, loved people, and faithfully served the Lord throughout her life.
Although she never had the opportunity to attend school, she had a deep love for the Bible. She treasured God's Word and spent much of her life reading, listening to, and meditating on Scripture.
God gave her a special grace to understand His Word despite having had no formal education. She especially loved collecting Bible verses. Whenever she found a meaningful Scripture passage or Christian saying, she would cut it out, save it carefully, and treasure it. To her, these simple pieces of paper were precious reminders of God's promises and truth.
She rarely missed a church gathering and deeply loved and respected Pastors, Ministers, Missionaries, and fellow believers.
For our family, she was a mother who gave two hundred percent of herself.
She always gave the best to me and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whenever we needed something, she was willing to help. She gave without counting the cost, never complained about being tired, and never expected anything in return.
She was extremely frugal with herself and often denied herself things she wanted. Yet when it came to giving to God or helping someone in need, she was remarkably generous. She was always willing to help neighbours, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ whenever she could.
One of the qualities we treasured most about her was that she simply did not like to hold grudges or keep score. We rarely, if ever, heard her speak negatively about other people behind their backs.
She was easily satisfied, content with simple things, and frequently thankful for what she had. She was also remarkably sharp-minded, had an exceptional memory, and was very creative. She cared deeply about not wasting things. In fact, she was remarkably environmentally conscious long before that became a popular idea. Many things that others considered useless or ready to be thrown away could become something useful in her hands. She always found creative ways to reuse and repurpose things.
But perhaps the greatest blessing and achievement of her later years was becoming a messenger of the Gospel. Although she never had the opportunity to receive a formal education, she treasured one particular certificate she received later in life: a certificate from a Short-Term Mission program, where she completed training in evangelism. After completing the course, she did not simply put the certificate away. She put what she had learned into practice.
For more than 18 years, almost every week, she took the bus, joined short-term mission workers at Villa Cathy, caring for seniors, spending time with them, listening to them, encouraging them, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This ministry brought her tremendous joy, purpose, and satisfaction.
Many sisters from church loved taking her along when they went evangelizing. Eventually, sharing the Gospel was no longer simply a church activity for her—it became a lifelong mission.
Her life demonstrated a beautiful truth: A person's education, position, wealth, or achievements are not what ultimately matter. What matters is whether we are willing to let God use our lives.
About six months before her passing, her health suddenly declined. She experienced heart failure, fluid in her lungs, and loss of kidney function and was admitted to the hospital. At that time, doctors told us that she might have only three days to one week to live. But thanks be to God for His mercy. God's grace was far greater than we could have imagined. Instead of only a few days, our mother remained in the hospital and hospice care for almost six months. And even during what appeared to be the final chapter of her earthly life, God continued to use her. During her hospitalization, she was able to lead two friends to faith in Jesus Christ.
For our family, this is one of the greatest reasons for which we give thanks to God. Throughout her life, my mother was gentle, warm-hearted, and kind. She did not hold grudges or concern herself with who owed her what. Because of this, she was deeply loved by many friends, neighbours, brothers and sisters in Christ, Pastors, and Ministry workers.
During the final six months of her life, we witnessed an extraordinary outpouring of love toward her. Family members, friends, Pastors, Ministers, and Church brothers and sisters came to visit her, pray with her, encourage her, and care for her.
Some came regularly, and some even came every day. They lovingly cared for her, kept her company, brought her favourite soups and foods, and surrounded her with kindness and affection. We believe that these final months were not simply the last months of her earthly life. They were months filled with love, grace, prayer, fellowship, and blessing. Before she left this world, she had already experienced the love and care of so many people. And we believe that her life also became a blessing to those who loved her. As people witnessed God's extraordinary grace sustaining a woman who had trusted Him throughout her life, they were reminded once again of the faithfulness and goodness of God.
On behalf of my mother, our family would like to express our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to every person who has been part of her life. Thank you for loving her, caring for her, visiting her, praying for her, encouraging her, accompanying her, and helping her in so many ways throughout the years.
We are sorry that we may not be able to personally thank each of you, but please know that our gratitude is deeper than words can express.
Some may ask: “When and where will the funeral service be held?”
We would like to share this with everyone sincerely and respectfully. My mother had a very clear wish that her final arrangements be carried out in the simplest way possible. Therefore, in accordance with her wishes, there will be no public funeral service or memorial worship. This decision is made entirely out of love and respect for her wishes.
We understand how deeply many people loved her and how difficult it is to say goodbye. But we also want to share something that gives our family great comfort: We believe that my mother was ready and at peace. While she was still with us, she had already received the love, prayers, blessings, and care of so many people. She had experienced the love of her family and church family.
And her final wish for everyone who loved her was not simply to remember her, but to continue the mission she cherished: Love God. Love people. Serve the Lord. And lead more people to know Jesus Christ.
This is the final hope and blessing she leaves with all of us. She firmly believed that when the appointed time comes, she will be reunited in heaven with all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ.
So this is not truly goodbye. It is only a temporary separation. Until we meet again in our heavenly home.
Our entire family is deeply grateful to God for giving us such a precious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—a woman who put God first, followed Christ faithfully, and spent her life serving Him and loving others.
The greatest inheritance she has left us is not money, possessions, or material things.
It is her faith.
It is her love for God and for people.
It is her willingness to serve.
And it is the example of a life faithfully lived for Christ. We pray that we will carry on the faith she lived out so simply and faithfully, and that we will follow her example by becoming people who honour God, bless others, and faithfully serve the Lord.
Mom, thank you for a lifetime of love.
Thank you for always giving us your very best.
Thank you for showing us what it means to love God and love people.
Mother, you have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Rest in peace now. See you in Heavenly home!
We will miss you deeply, but even more than our sadness, we give thanks to God for the gift of your life. We know that you are now resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord Jesus whom you loved and trusted throughout your life. Until we meet again in heaven.
May the love, grace, and peace of God be with each and every one of you, now and forever.
With deepest love and gratitude,
