Kayla Jamie Mackenzie Pigeon

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kayla Pigeon who died unexpectedly in Vancouver, BC, on February 28, 2025, at the age of 25. Kayla was born in Peterborough, Ontario, on January 3, 2000, and grew up in the charming town of Buckhorn, Ontario, where she developed a deep love for nature, animals, and the simple joys of life.

Kayla's infectious spirit and love for animals were at the core of who she was. From a young age, she found comfort and companionship in creatures of all kinds, often spending hour’s outdoors, surrounded by animals. She shared a special bond with her family, particularly her father, with whom she would eagerly rise early each year on the opening day of Pickerel Season, eager to spend the day fishing at their favorite spot.

A natural artist, Kayla had a remarkable talent for drawing, and her love for art extended across many forms. She had a creative soul and could often be found sketching or crafting something beautiful. Her passion for music also shone brightly—she played the guitar and the clarinet with a talent and dedication that inspired everyone around her.

Kayla was known for her kindness, her infectious laughter, and her bright, compassionate heart. She had a way of making everyone around her feel special and valued. Her family and friends will forever remember her as a free spirit, someone who could always be counted on to bring warmth, joy, and light into any room.

She is survived by her son Landon, parents Tim and Regan Doughty, her siblings Kate-Lyn, Taylor, Riley, Lucy, Lillie, Addison and Owen. Her nieces who were much more like siblings and nephews. She will also be missed by her biological father Robert Winton and siblings Cassie and Lucas. Grandparents Alan Pigeon (Diane), late Patricia Williamson, Barry (Ruth) Doughty. As well as many Aunts and Uncles, cousins and friends who were fortunate to know her.

Kayla’s love for life, her kindness, and her joyful spirit will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace.
