I had the privilege of being the ED of ONE TO ONE Literacy when Ken created the inaugural SpencerCreo Centre.  It was a game changer for ONE TO ONE, as well as for the other charities that were located there.  Ken worked tirelessly to ensure we had everything we needed to be able to operate efficiently and professionally.  I remember he even hung things on the wall for us!  The SpencerCreo Centre is a wonderful legacy, which will benefit so many grassroots charities for many years to come. 

Ken’s focus on philanthropy inspired me personally and when I retired, my husband and I began funding post-secondary education for students who are current mentees of Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland, graduating from Grade 12, and who would otherwise be unable to finance their post-secondary education. 

The world has lost a special person.  I can’t imagine how heart-breaking it is for you, Judy, and for the rest of the family. My sincerest condolences, but please know that Ken left the world a better place for others.

To Ken's family: I am so very sorry for your loss.

I will always remember the wonderful experience I had working for Creo. He created a company culture that was full of respect for one another. It was so much fun going to work every day. Creo touched the lives of so many as can be seen by the facebook group! The culture he created lives on in Creoites everywhere.

I first met Ken back around 1997 when we were both serving on the board of governors of BCIT. A few years later we crossed paths again when he supported the Neil Squire Society through Social Venture Partners and then later with very significant support received through the SpencerCreo Foundation.

Through Ken, his leadership and his family he had a tremendous impact on our organization and thousands of people with disabilities. Through this impact his legacy within the Neil Squire Society will live on.

My condolences to the family of Ken Spencer on his passing.

I was a fellow graduate student in the Deparmnent of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UBC in the early sixties.  Even then Ken was an outgoing person with a knack for helping others and making  his environment a happier place.   This outlook permeated all his career endeavours and philanthropic work.

I shall remember Ken as a colleague and dear friend.

Ken was a tremendous supporter of many non-profits. His support was so critical at Neil Squire, which helped us bring computer literacy programming online, enabling us to help people with disabilities "anywhere, anytime". He had supported this work for nearly a decade. When COVID hit, it was these lessons learned and best practices that helped our organization pivot very quickly when everything went virtual. In this project, like so much of our work, he was an early adopter of innovative technology, that helped change the world for so many people. RIP Ken, and thank you for vision and support.

I  learned from Ken and, like so many others, I benefited tremendously from the things he innovated and championed.

Thank you again Ken for everything you did and all the trails you blazed.
