She is predeceased by her sister, Purificacion, and her parents, Geronimo and Perla.
Lourdes was born January 23, 1939, in Manila, Philippines to Geronimo and Perla. She married Augusto in 1970. In 1971, the couple welcomed Michael into the world and Joanne in 1973. In 1974, they moved to and started their lives in Vancouver, Canada, and the following year, in 1975, they welcomed Marie-Anne into the family. Lourdes and Augusto lived a humble and modest life, providing the very best for their family, within their means and often beyond their means. She loved her family. Over the last several years, Lourdes’ health slowly deteriorated as she increasingly suffered from Alzheimer's and renal failure. She suffered quietly, never complaining about the pain she surely experienced. She never wanted others to worry about her.
Lourdes was a beautiful, wonderful, and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend who loved her family and friends. Never did she think of herself and instead focused on her wishes and hopes for others. She was a faith-filled Catholic who lived a life of prayer and service to her family.
Prayer services are scheduled for Monday, March 5 at 7:30pm at Blessed Sacrament Parish (3040 Heather Street, Vancouver, BC) with a reception to follow at 8:30pm at the church. Lourdes’ funeral will be at 11:00am the following day, Tuesday, March 6 at Blessed Sacrament with Catholic burial at Ocean View Cemetery (4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lourdes’ life.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC at http://alzheimer.ca/en/bc or the Kidney Foundation of Canada at https://www.kidney.ca/ways-to-donate.
The family would like to thank all those who cared for Lourdes, not just family and friends but the caregivers and medical team at Richmond General Hospital.
