In 1926, she left Punya and moved to Hong Kong, where she met her future husband, Mo Tong Chan. Together, they built a life together and had eight children.
An individual who enjoyed simple pleasures, she loved her morning walks at Victoria Park, eating dim sum with friends, knitting for grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and most of all, play Mah Jong, which she kept up with all her life up until the beginning of this year.
After becoming a widow in 1960, Chan Lun Chun stayed in Hong Kong until she immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, in 1994. She officially became a Canadian citizen and in the year she turned 100, she was recognized in Canada by the Lieutenant Governor as well as the Prime Minister for being one of the select few to accomplish this. She was definitely pleased to have received this acknowledgement from a country that she now called home.
She is survived by her eight children and their spouses – Mary Szeto and Sung Szeto (d); Agnes and Marshall Ma (d); Cecilia and So Fai Cho (d); Roberta and Bill Leung; Robin and Anita Chan; Penelope Kom and Henry Chang; Ronald Chan and Estella Wong; and Estella Chan. She also has 17 grandchildren and their families - Margaret, Joan, Ann, John, Herald, Victor, Wilson, Brandon, Peter, Belinda, Vincent, Tammy, Karen, Tracy, Ada, Stephanie (d), Magdalene, and Johnathan.
She has lived a full life with close family surrounding her throughout it all. She officially became a super centenarian this year at the young age of 110. She has been through two World Wars, two pandemics, a cultural revolution, and experienced so many other worldly events that most of us simply read in books.
She will be missed by her family but Chan Lun Chun has left this world leaving us with her legacy and five living generations within her lifetime, not a small feat.
