Born July 12th, 1937 to mother Inocenta and father Magno Dolotallas in the small municipality of Lopez Jaena, Philippines, Matildo met and married the love of his life, Luz (predeceased), and soon immigrated to Canada in 1967 to start a family. An electrician by trade, Matildo's busy hands, and creativity meant dabbling in a variety of vocations and interests - from building homes, fixing just about anything digital or analog, landscaping, TV antennae installations, and amateur "fire fighting" (there's a story here). There wasn't a thing he could not, or would not, do for his family, all the while bereft of ego. And man could he dance. And sing! Anyone lucky enough to get the karaoke invite will attest to Matildo's ability to belt out classic tunes in English and Tagalog. He had a great love of the outdoors, camping, fishing, and traveling with family and friends. Dad spent the last 15 years living in Prince George where, not one to be bored, he continued to pass the time working and actively contributed as a member of the Filipino community and Catholic Church.
Matildo is survived by his eldest daughter Marissa (Chris), son Noel (Amy) and grandchildren Logan and Aedan, and daughter Lailanie (Daniel) and their grandchildren Citlalmina and Maxayuawi. Also left to share his tales and cherish his memories are siblings Leticia Dolotallas Miclat, Warlita Labis, Aida Ver, and Magno Dolotallas Jr.
Memorial events to remember and honour Matildo will be served:
• June 22nd - Viewing and Vigil from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home
• June 23rd - Memorial service will be held Thursday at Holy Name of Jesus Parish at 3:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life from 6:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery.
The Dolotallas family invites all family and friends to share in the life of our wonderful father, Matildo.
