This letter is much too late but I did not realize that Mikyn had passed away. I am deeply saddened and remember as my daughter's special childhood friend. I remember them roller skating around a park but only had 1 pair of skates. Jennifer and Mikyn held each other  - each with one skate on. It was hilarious and darling. She was a sprite  and an angel. I am very honored to be here today to say a few words about how much Mikyn meant to her friends and colleagues at Deloitte.  After graduating from Simon Fraser University in 2003 she joined Deloitte as a CA student.  Mikyn was identified as a star performer very early in her career, in fact one of her key clients wrote an email to me in Mikyn's first year remarking on how unusual it was for a first year student to actually impress them in the way that Mikyn had.  

Mikyn passed her CA final exam in 2005 and became a Chartered Accountant in 2006.  I am sure that all of her family can remember the demands of this rigorous course of study and the immense relief and pride that Mikyn felt when she qualified to be a CA.  Through the rest of Mikyn's career she recognized the support that others had given her in getting through her studies and as a manager Mikyn lead our examination training and mentoring program to help other students be successful.

As a new CA Mikyn was keen to get involved in the Technology Industry and actively built her skills and a strong network. Mikyn was promoted to manager after just 4 years and became a senior manager last year. She worked on several of our most important clients during her time at Deloitte.  Mikyn has always had a great attitude, was a role model for client service, was active in recruiting, training and was a very effective coach for many of our people.  
  
Mikyn's level of commitment and contribution was often key to helping us improve our relationship with our clients. 

Mikyn always created an environment where people could learn, improve, enjoy working as a team and have some fun at the same time.

Mikyn always cared about her work, about doing a great job and about how she and the team could do better next time.  She was well organized, had a sense of ownership and had strong communications skills.
 
It was evident to all of us how much Mikyn cared about people and how much she wanted to please others around her. Mikyn was a fabulous manager, colleague and friend who touched countless people at Deloitte: from the highest ranks of Deloitte Canada, to the most junior staff in our office, to the clients that she served.   Mikyn was a great representative of Deloitte and the CA profession.

Mikyn was also very open with the people she worked with about what her family meant to her.  Those of us who worked with her talked through every detail as she planned her wedding and made her lifelong commitment to Josh, we shared her excitement at becoming an Aunt and most recently the joy she felt when she became a mother.

We are thankful for her bravery and openness during her battle with cancer.  We appreciate that we could provide friendship and support to Mikyn and her family.  We are thankful that she made time to see so many of us who wanted to visit her.  We are thankful to Josh for sharing her with us.

On behalf of all of Mikyn's Deloitte family, I wish to express my deepest sympathy to Josh and Calin, to her parents and other family members.  Mikyn was an amazing person and we will miss her very much.

My heart breaks with the news of Mikyn's passing. I remember our days at Elgin and then carpooling together to Kwantlen. May your family find comfort in each other. You will never be forgotten as your memory will live on in Calin.

Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you all the beautiful memories we've shared together. Amongst the many things I will remember - I will forever cherish the fun conversations we shared when we carpooled to work, your smile when I felt like giving up, your positive attitude and outlook for life, your love for your family, your beautiful eyes, your presence when you walked into the room... Mikyn, I will miss you forever. You made a significant impact in both my personal life and my career. Not only were you a good coach - you were also a role model for me. During your short time here in this earth, you've graced my life with just being "you" - and because of that, my life was brighter with you in it. 

You will forever live in my memories when I think about you. You will forever live forever in my words when I speak about you. Most importantly, you will forever live in my heart because I love you.

All my love goes out to you and your family - especially your loving husband Josh and your son Calin.

My heart is full of love for the family at this time.
Our meetings with Mikyn were few,but so memorable.  Also so many memories come to me of her Grandma Flo's stories of her grandchildren. She loved them so much.

One of my favourite memories of Mikyn was when she came back from Hawaii and beamed solidly for at least a month.  We decorated her desk completely in streamers, balloons and wedding pictures and she didn't take any of it down. She was a glorious bride!!
