I am so glad I had the pleasure of knowing Fung.  He always showed such warmth and kindness to me and to those around him.  Looking through these pictures makes me truly miss his smiling face, and happy to know he was loved by many in his lifetime.

Dear friends and families, especially the ones who were not in at the funeral in person, I would like to share with you my tribute to my father

Many people who know my father might think that he had a hard life: he did not have a father to grow up with, he family was poor, he only graduated from elementary school, he started working since he was 13, he had to serve the military due to the Vietnam war, he had to hide from his military duties and flee the country, afterwards he worked so hard just to make ends meet, and then he enjoyed his retirement for only a few short years.

However, I can say this here on behalf of my father that he felt content. I am saying this not only out of my own understanding of him - it is because he had said many many times "I am very satisfied with my life." Even though he did not own a lot of money or things, he had received a lot of love: he had many best friends, he found the love of his life, he had children that love him, and he had two incredibly lovely granddaughters. According to my father, "this is all that anyone can hope for!" And all those "hardships" where there to make him a better and stronger person. 

Dad, although grandpa was not there to be your role model for fatherhood, you are the best father in the world. I am so lucky to be your daughter to have received such loving care and guidance from you. And I am so honoured to have been standing by your side fighting the cancer battle together: going to doctor's appointments, going to the Cancer Agency, searching for alternative treatments, doing research together, facing this challenge together, or merely just being there for you is an honour.

Dad, you left now. But I will always remember what you taught me. I will follow your footsteps to live passionately, to love this life, and to have courage to take on any challenge. I will live my life so fully in your honour.

Daddy, I love you always!

My fondest memory of Fung Ngai dated back to 1997. In June of that year, I flew from Canada to Hong Kong when he represented HKIB to meet me at the airport. At the time of my arrival, he picked up his nephew who also just arrived from Germany. When I emerged from custom hall, his nephew greeted me in German to convey Fung Ngai's mission. I was a little surprised and explained that I was able to converse in the Cantonese dialect. Instantaneously, I spotted a big smile beaming across Fung Ngai's face.
As we were leaving the airport terminal, Fung Ngai explained that he was afraid that he might not be sufficiently fluent in English to greet me. So he thought to ask his nephew to interpret since he heard that I had spent a number of years in Europe. We all laughed heartily during the journey back to HKIB's Shatin quarters.
Henceforth, we became colleagues and close friends. Since that day, I recognized Fung Ngai to be a very smart person, reacting to each situation rapidly and effectively. He consistently lent himself to support colleagues & friends without reservation, not to mention providing for his immediate family in earnest. His efforts can be seen today when his children have soundly established themselves to provide him a good number of years retiring in Vancouver, Canada. 
Fung Ngai will always be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather and friend not only to me but also to all those who had crossed his path. His family ought to be comforted as he rests in peace.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
