February 10, 1946 – October 21, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Niko Loucakos who slipped away peacefully on the morning of October 21st, 2018, at the age of 72. His children brought him from Toronto to Vancouver to spend the time he had left surrounded by the love of his family. He is survived by his siblings Toula, Yianni, and Kosta, his former wife and mother of his children, Fotini Zannis, his three children, Yiota Petrakis (Vasilli), Nick Loucakos, and Stylianos Loucakos (Adriana), as well as his two grandchildren, Yianni and Elias. Those who knew Niko know that he had a few great loves in his life; his family, his friends and his bouzouki. He could captivate anyone with a simple strum of his instrument. We will forever treasure the time we had with him, the memories we made and the sounds of his music. In his own words, “I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow. I will love you forever.” Rest In Peace Baba.

My deepest condolences to the entire Nikolas family,
I have been extremely sudden to hear of Niko’s passing.
I had the pleasure of knowing Niko and working closely with him at Christina’s for many years. From the time we hired him, he instantly became a close friend and part of the family, with my late husband and I.
He was the friendliest, kindest and most talented bouzouki musician that came across this establishment. His love for music and entertaining so many of us every weekend, will be greatly missed!
May He Rest In Peace and God Bless your family.

My dad Mano Kaltakis played keyboards next to Niko for many years in the bouzoukia circuits of Vancouver. He will always remember Niko for being a great colleague and friend as well as a master of the bouzouki. We send our condolences on behalf of my dad Mano, my brother Angelo and myself.
