It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nicolas Papoutsakis, who passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026.
Nicolas was born on April 1, 1941, in Deliana, Crete, Greece. He carried a deep love for his village throughout his life and returned often to visit family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Stelio), and his grandsons, Kosta and Niko. Though no longer married, Sofia remained a devoted presence in his life and cared for him with kindness and dedication in his later years.
He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Meropi who passed away shortly before him.
He is also survived by his brother, Manoli (Betty), and his sister, Olga. He loved his siblings deeply and cherished his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Family was the most important thing in his life.
His friends were equally important to him, and he was fortunate to have many cherished friendships both in Vancouver and in Greece. He will be remembered for his love of family, and loyalty to his friends.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate his life on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 306 E. 11th Ave. Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Lung Association would be appreciated.
Broken Chain
We little knew that morning
God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories
Your love is still our guide,
And although we cannot see you
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.
