He was born in Chania Crete (Nippos) Greece on January 14, 1949, and he passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 3, 2022 (Vancouver BC). He is survived by his wife Christina, his daughters – Erika, Angela (Hussam) and Georgia – and his granddaughter Petra (the apple of his eye).
Simply put, he was a man of integrity who would do anything for his family and all those who had the honour of knowing him. His family never doubted he loved them, and his memory will live on forever through them. He was a man of few words, stoic and strong; but his generosity spoke volumes of the man he was.
Nick came to Canada in 1966. In the early 80’s he met his wife Christina (it was love at first sight), and together they built a beautiful life together. One of deep love and respect. In 1982 they married and had three daughters together. For over 35 years he worked at Vancouver International Airport as a bartender extraordinaire! He always made customers feel welcome with his endearing smile, warm presence, and hospitality. It was a joy to watch him in action.
Nick was never a man to sit still, he enjoyed keeping busy. He landscaped the most beautiful gardens filled with colourful flowers, bricked-lined paths, delicious fruit trees, fresh vegetables, and even installed a swing for his granddaughter. In retirement, his greatest joy was watching his granddaughter learn, and explore.
In June 2022 Nick was diagnosed with cancer and its aggressive nature took him from us before we had a chance to blink. Through everything he handled it with true strength – we, as a family, couldn’t have been prouder.
He will be missed deeply by his wife and children, his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family overseas.
Our hearts break every day that he is not with us, but we know we will meet again. We are so lucky to have had him to love us as long as we did.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate in his memory to the BC Cancer Society. Our hope is that with more donations a cure can be found.
The Funeral will be held on Friday July 15, 2022 at 11:00 am
Location: St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral
4500 Arbutus Street, Vancouver BC
