

April 28 , 1931 - September 28, 2012
Norm passed away peacefully at Lion's Manor, in Richmond, B.C., at the
age of 81. He is survived by his beloved wife Delphine; son David, daughter
-in-law Tina, grandchildren Austin and Celina, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba;
daughter Teresa, son-in-law Brian, grandson Dylan, all of Christina Lake, B.C.;
elder brother Fred Penny of Penticton and Sister Betty Newell of Victoria; son Bruce Atkinson,
daughter-in-law Shelly.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Norm joined the meteorological service after
graduation from high school and served as a Climatologist with Environment
Canada until retirement. He was passionate not only about his family and faith,
but his many hobbies as well. He and Delphine spent many happy hours walking
on the dykes of Richmond and working together in their beautiful garden. They
also enjoyed exploring Van Dusen Gardens and afternoons at Tea and Trumpets
with friends. He and Delphine loved travel and enjoyed a number of international
tours and cruises together. Norm was very keen on aircraft and loved watching and
photographing planes both locally and at airshows in the U.S. and Britain.
Norm will be sadly missed but always remembered with love in the hearts of his
family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on
Saturday October 13, at 1:30 p.m. at South Arm United Church located at the
corner of Steveston Hwy and No 3 Road in Richmond. B.C.
