HEDSTROM - Patricia (Trish) Constance - May 1, 1937 to Nov. 19, 2018. With profound sadness we said farewell to a very independent, determined lady with feisty Irish roots when Pat passed away peacefully with dignity and grace at Richmond Lions Manor following a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Predeceased by her loving mother Irene Conlin and father James, her dear brother Sonny and her beloved son Micheal Zima. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughter Cathy Irmert (Fred) and grandson Christopher of Calgary, by her devoted son Reginald Zima (Edward) of Toronto, by her dear sister Irene (Rene) Kjersteen, niece Kayla and nephew Connor of Calgary, by her brother Reginald Conlin of Calgary, and many other family members and friends with whom she was not in touch as much as she would have wished but thought fondly of over the years.
The family particularly wants to thank Dr. Cheryl Ho and Dr. Bogard Zavaglia who was so supportive in the early days guiding Patricia through the stressful maze of B.C.'s palliative care system, with special mention of the dedicated Staff of Richmond Lions Manor for their personal attention to Patricia in her final months. Also deeply appreciated were the many visits by Patricia's long-time friends Wylma Lockhart and Nina Graham and others in the B.C. Liberal Party of which Trish was an avid supporter and volunteer for many decades and for which she was recently honoured with a 'Certificate of Appreciation' by MLA John Yap for her many years of civic contribution and a glowing 'tribute' on Nov. 20th in the B.C. Legislature again praising her years of loyal civic and political support. During her lengthy employment in the security division for CTV which gave her great pride and satisfaction, it was well known that Lloyd Robertson was her media hero.
And no mention of the support, care and tender attention Patricia received would be complete without special, heartfelt thanks to Christine MacLean, dear friend and neighbour of Patricia's in Richmond for many years. Her caring presence throughout Patricia's early decline and continuing visits and kindness to Patricia in her final months in hospice ... and prayers shared with her ... will never be forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph The Worker Parish, 4451 Williams Rd., Richmond, B.C. on Friday Nov. 30th at 11:00 a.m.
