Pat's passing makes me think of the saying "only the good die young." I feel certain he is in the Kingdom of Light. It's just hardest for those left behind. Deanna, Caitlin, Shannon will feel this the most, but even Pat's siblings, scattered as they are, feel the loss deeply. My faith tells me that our life here is just a moment, compared to the life to come. And that our loved ones in the next world ask us not to grieve; we will join them in time. It is hopeful. Pat was a darling man - we all know that. A real gem, a true gentleman, kind, generous...quiet. For some reason we'll never fathom, he was called away suddenly. My thoughts are with him and his beloved dear ones. Blessings and love.

As I write this, it is a year and 2 days since I last saw and visited with Pat and it is just under a year since he passed away. I am still in disbelief that he is gone and I think of him several times every day without fail. I see his photo every time I turn my phone on. He left us too soon, too unexpectedly, and seeing his face reminds me of my own mortality. I miss him more than anyone in his' Family can imagine of a non-Family member. We were workmates for almost 30 years, enjoying each other's company within the workplace. I knew Pat had some health-related issues but, despite replaying again and again, the manner of his' loss, I cannot explain it nor can I fathom or, really come to terms with it. I loved him as a Man and Friend. I always will. Most of those who worked with him, feel similarly.

Danny and I worked with Pat at Canada Post Depot 32 for a number of years. Pat was part of the station's unique cast of characters which also included Norm Welch, Gerry Knutsen, Chris Hay,TY Dan, and the station supervisor, Bill Russell. Pat delivered mail for many years along West Broadway and was well known by most of the long-time merchants.

May God have mercy on Pat's soul and comfort his family now and always.

I was only just getting to know Pat, and feel sadly now that I waited too long. But I could tell immediately that he was a kind, gentle soul and I'm glad I knew him for the short time I did.  My deepest condolences to Deanna, Caitlin and Shannon, and to all the O'Flanagans at this sad time.

Dear Deanna Caitlyn & Shannon - my words are weak compared to the heart, love, strength and infinite  soul this man Pat O'Flanagan possessed. His loss is already too hard to fathom, but my spiritual arms are around you all.  My first forays in Vancouver involved Pat first and then beautiful Deanna and Caitlyn followed, and of course not long after dear Shannie. Coed softball, Screaming Eagles, support of my theatre performances, laughter food and sensitive tears, after sharing in the kitchen, Pat's quiet peaceful and succinct answers to just about anything, and I could go on... I still find it difficult to comprehend Pat's death. We shared an Irish heritage which was the basis of so many front verandah discussions. I have never known a man more devoted to his family and I can't imagine the gap in the lives of Deanna, Caitlin and Shannon.
