It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Patrocinio Clydesdale. She passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by loved ones at AgeCare Lakeview, where she had been a resident for seven years. Pat was well-loved and popular at Lakeview; nurses, caregivers, residents, and their families all adored her. Affectionately known as “Nanay” by everyone, she touched many hearts with her warmth.
Pat was born on April 22, 1930, in Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, to Lorenzo V. Quiaoit and Juanita S. Saplaco. She was an only child.
She graduated from Centro Escolar University in Manila with a degree in education and dedicated her early career to teaching at Bagong Sikat Elementary School in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, and later at Pio del Pilar Elementary School in Manila.
In 1966, Pat immigrated to Canada, pursuing further education at the University of British Columbia to align her teaching credentials with Canadian standards. She made the difficult decision to move so she could provide a better life for her family, regularly sending money back home to support them. As a single mother, she worked as an elementary school teacher in Terrace, BC, and later in Quesnel, BC. Through her determination and love, she sponsored her family’s immigration to Canada in 1974, and they settled in Quesnel.
After her divorce with Benito Parinas Sr., Pat remarried James Clydesdale, a kind and good man. Together, they moved to Vancouver, BC, where they purchased a modest home on Victoria Drive. Although they eventually parted ways amicably. James, being a country boy at heart, chose to return to Williams Lake, BC, while Pat remained in Vancouver.
Later in life, Pat transitioned from teaching to caregiving, working at Oakhurst Care Home and Haro Park Long Term Care, where she retired after many years of compassionate service.
Pat was predeceased by her daughter Evelyn Del Rosario, son Benito Parinas Jr, son-in-law Rey del Rosario, and grandson Michael del Rosario.
Pat is survived by her son Luisito Q. Parinas, daughter-in-law Gregoria Parinas, granddaughters Cindy Parinas, Melany Najman, Marufa Parinas, grandsons Alexander Najman and Melvin Parinas, and great-grandchildren Kingston, Skylar, Deen and Ayden.
Pat’s courageous decision to immigrate to Canada changed the course of our family’s history. Through her sacrifices, determination, and unwavering love, she opened the door to a brighter future for all of us. Today, three generations of our family, immediate and extended, are deeply grateful for the better life we enjoy in Canada because of her vision and strength. Pat is our hero and our inspiration. We will always remember her with love, gratitude, and pride.
Thank you, Mother dearest. The whole family loves you dearly. May God bless you and grant you eternal peace. You will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts forever.
