Born on May 1, 1940 in Saigon (Ho Chi Ming City), Vietnam, Peng had a rambunctious childhood filled with mischievous adventures. At the age of 15, he ventured out to study abroad in China and graduated in Mechanical Engineering from ShangDong University in 1963. There he made some of his fondest memories and life long friends. In 1964, he began his engineering career in Shanghai where he met and fell in love at first sight with Yue Fang, his wife of over 5 decades. In the early 1980’s, Peng and his young family immigrated to Vancouver Canada to reunite with his mother Dr. Nhan Tuan Tuan. He worked as a welder with Ronson’s Torch Repairs & Sales Ltd, a workplace he considered as his 2nd family, until his retirement.
Peng lived a life with integrity, optimism, humour, curiosity, and passion, balanced by a strong work ethic and a love of travel and adventures. He maintained a life-long passion in photography, travel, and world affairs, and later years found great fulfillment in gardening, applying the same creativity and curiosity that shaped his life.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a kind grandfather. Known for his intellect, sincerity, humor and engaging stories, Peng left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his wife Yue Fang; his children Xiao Ou and Karen (Francis); and his beloved grandchildren Summer and Kingston.
The family extends their sincere gratitude for the kindness, support, and compassion shown to them during this time of loss.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel (1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m., at the same location.
