Dear Percy,

Thank you for everything you’ve done for your family. You've taken such amazing care of everyone including your wife, daughters, dogs, and plants. You have created so many amazing memories and made such a positive impact on so many people. 

Although our time together was cut very short, we are all so thankful we got to know you and have you be apart of our lives. It truly feels like we are family. 

The plant you helped us plant in our garden is growing and becoming more and more beautiful each day. Thank you for the wonderful gift you have left us. It will forever be our favourite flower and a constant reminder of you. 

You will be greatly missed. We hope that you will be able to rest peacefully, and I know we will meet again one day.

Words are very difficult to find to express our sorrow and the loss to your family.You have been a kind and thoughtful neighbour as is the rest of your family.Front yard conversations and mutual waves as we pass each other will be missed.

Dear “little” uncle,

“Little” because you’re the husband of my mom’s youngest sister, aunt reddy, whom my mom always spoke so fondly of. Little uncle, I didn’t know you all too well, but during the times we got together as an extended family, you always had a smile on your face and had a joyous attitude. The last time I saw you was during my tea ceremony, and i remember your genuine happiness for me - thank you. I knew you to be a wonderful husband and father who stood by your family’s side and supported and guided them in whatever way you could. To Aunt Reddy and my cousins (who again, I didn’t see as much as I liked to), I am so sorry for your loss and my heart reaches out to you - I am thinking of you 

When I head out, what I always happen to see was Mr.Ngai taking the dogs for a walk. Morning, day, evening, he would always take them out and seeing that, I always thought wow, he’s a great person. I also remember visiting the house to hang out with his daughter and looking at their garden and entrance thinking it’s beautiful and how passionate he must be about gardening. Even though I haven’t had a conversation with him since I was in elementary school, what I always know and will remember is that he was a very kind, passionate, loving, and happy father. He will be forever remembered and missed. To the family of Mr.Ngai, our thoughts and prayers will be with you during this time. 

Nona and I have been very sad since we heard of Percy’s passing.  We are very lucky to have such a friendly neighborhood, and Percy was the epitome of our neighborhood friendliness.  
He or Reddy would walk the chow dogs, “Mukmuk and Mika,” three times a day, such was their devotion to the dogs and to everyone around him.  We would see Percy almost every day and have a brief but very friendly conversation with him.  We would see him being pulled along in Steveston London school, always so faithful to those dogs. 
We feel very sad for his lovely wife Reddy and their two daughters, having lost someone who was very devoted to them and very supportive. 
We would pass his yard on walks, his lovely roses along the front, of which he was very proud.  
We will always look at his magnificent weeping sequoia tree out front, not for us a symbol of sadness, but a tree that is bowing toward his neighborhood, a symbol of his proud but humble nature. 
He was always happy and friendly, and we will miss him greatly.


Dear Mr. Ngai,

Even though I have seen you a few times in my life, it was a great pleasure meeting you. I particularly enjoyed your passion and attention towards the plants and flowers all over your house. I am so thankful you raised 2 kind and caring daughters that are both great people and they will definitely be successful and happy individuals in the future. As well, thank you for taking wonderful care of Mukmuk and Miga for walking them to many different places around the neighborhood. Again, thank you for all you have accomplished in this life. You are a great dad.  

Although with very few encounters, I could see his kindness and enthusiasm towards everyday through his youngest daughter, my best friend. I will always be grateful for the positive impact he has Keona, as she too is one of the kindest and most loving souls I know.  

Dear Uncle Percy,

Although I've only ever met you briefly once when picking up Yannis to go to SFU, I could already tell how warm your heart actually was with your hello. Although you didn't know my mom and dad personally at the time, they knew you were a genuinely nice and kind person when they bumped into you at Happy Day Restaurant. Reading all the other messages left by others just further highlights how welcoming and kind hearted you were as a person.

I know you're resting above now, and I hope you rest peacefully knowing that your family will be loved and taken care of. I will ensure that Yannis and Keona know that I will always be here to give them advice whether it be life or career-related, and that my family will remain at their side through the journey ahead. I'm sure you hear us talking in our prayers, so please know that you'll always be in our hearts.

Life sometimes goes in weird ways and it's always hard to wrap your head around it. But I can definitely say you've made a positive impact on many peoples lives. An everlasting impression. Your presence will always linger and we will never forget about you.  Keep smiling above, and I know it will radiate down and be felt by all of us. Uncle, this is not a goodbye, but rather an until we meet again. We will have many stories to tell you when we see you again.

Uncle Percy, 

I am so grateful to have met a wise, caring, funny, loving, and intelligent man like you through your daughter, Yannis. From the many play dates Yannis and I had in our childhood, I will never forget your mini aquarium and beautiful garden. To this day, I still wonder how you kept that big fish alive for so many years. I remember tapping the tank gently to get its attention and you would be right by my side. 

You were always so welcoming and I wish I could have seen you one last time before you fell ill. Thank you for all that you have done. Your story has touched many hearts and you will forever be remembered. Rest easy uncle Percy. 

Dear Dad... 
Writing this breaks my heart because I cannot believe the world would take away someone who was always by my side and helped me through everything. Although we were only granted 17 years together, you were truly the best dad anyone could have ever asked for. Every day felt like a blessing to me with you there. I will forever be grateful to have had a dad who I am proud to call my best friend. I hope you know that you were so much more than just a dad to me. Words can't explain how glad I am that I was with you holding your hand when you took your last breath. I will cherish all the amazing memories we had together, even the small ones such as: going on a walk with Mukmuk and Miga, making me hot chocolate, and driving me to work. Looking back at all the old memories never fails to put a smile on my face, I just wish we could make more. Since you’ve been gone, it has definitely not been easy. But I want to say thank you, even though my heart is broken into a million pieces. Thank you for teaching me how to drive, taking care of our family, bringing so much joy and happiness into my life, all the good memories, but most importantly, thank you for being my hero. I miss you every second of every day but you will always have a very special place in my heart. Love you endlessly, until we meet again❤️ Fly high Dad 😇

Hi Percy,

Although I never got the chance to meet you, I feel like I’ve known you for years through your daughter, Yannis.  From the videos she has sent me of you to the photos she has shared, you were truly an amazing father I wish I had. Your humour, love and passion is contagious. 

I hope you can rest easy knowing that there are people willing to help your family whenever needed. I am only one call away. Through Yannis, I can see that you’ve done an amazing job raising your two daughters. They are kind, humorous and spirited, which I am sure were inherited from you. Oh how I wish I could’ve met you in person, but I know there’s a huge part of you in your two daughters that will live on forever. 

Your story touches many hearts and will forever be remembered. Thank you for giving me an amazing friend and  loving everyone through every second of your life. 

To Uncle Percy,

Although I didn’t get to know you as well as I wish I could have, the familiarity of seeing you walk Mukmuk and Miga around Steveston-London in the mornings was enough for me to feel connected to you. To you, I may have just been one of Yannis’ many friends who would just appear at your doorstep some days, but to me, you were Yannis’ rock and I was able to share many moments with you through various videos that Yannis had sent me while I was in Toronto. 

Thank you for being such an amazing and loving parent to your daughters and for acting as an adventurous second dad to me when I needed advice. I will never forget the warm feeling of support you gave me from across the country as well as how I was able to overcome my homesickness by seeing your family smiling together. 

The world has lost an angel but I know heaven will welcome you with open arms. You raised two beautiful and intelligent daughters who will continuously make you proud. Your story has touched the hearts of many and your impact will never be forgotten. I hope you can rest in peace knowing that there are people who will continue to care for your family from down here.

I promise that I will make sure Yannis and Keona end up with loyal partners who will treat them right! Words cannot explain the love I have for your family and I have no intention of letting them go because each and every one of them is one of a kind. 

Uncle Percy, although you are not with us anymore, the rhythm of your heart continues to beat in each of our lives and your memories will be timeless.

It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of our good neighbour, Percy. 
A most friendly and pleasant addition to our neighborhood since he  and his family moved in! 
In particular, his gardening skills gave us a great amount of pleasure when viewed from our front room window!
Particularly, "Percy's Tree" will always stand as a reminder of the good and friendly neighbour we have all lost!

Dear Dad,

Thank you for the 19 years of happiness you’ve given me. Even though our time together was cut much too short, I loved every second of being right by your side. I wish the universe didn’t take away the one person who never failed to make me laugh and smile, but I guess heaven needed an angel like you. Anyone would be lucky to have a dad that’s half the dad you were to me. Growing up with a dad like you were truly a blessing I never deserved. Losing you will always be my greatest heartbreak because I lost two people in one person, my dad and my very best friend (+barista🤫). You taught me how to drive, love, dream and most importantly, to seize every day with love and kindness. Thank you for loving me when I couldn’t love myself and loving me till the very end as you always promised. I will miss you every single day for the rest of my life and there will never be a day that goes by where I don’t think of you and the happiness you’ve given me. I love you forever and always ❤️ Rest easy ba ba 😇 

To Percy's close family,
I am deeply saddened by your loss in your family. I am sending so much love, and my thoughts and prayers to your family. I pray that you will find peace in this difficult situation and stay strong. 

I am forever grateful that I was able to have known Percy since I was very young. I will always keep and cherish the many amazing memories with him and his family very close to my heart. 

While there are so many memories I have of Percy, I want to share one that I believe truly captures how big of an impact he made in many people's lives. 

There was this one specific plant that my mom really wanted. Because Percy was the ultimate plant expert, we asked him where we could purchase this specific plant. Without even hesitating, he went out of his way to go to many different stores to find the plant for us, and the best one too. He helped us plant it in our garden as well. Although this is just one of the many things Percy has helped us with, this truly shows how selfless and kind Percy was. He always put others first, and helped whenever he could, despite difficulties he may have faced. His presence always lit up the room with so much optimism and positivity; I will always be inspired by his selflessness. 

May Percy rest peacefully. He will be remembered forever, and his legacy will live on forever.
