Roy Hozumi Tanaka

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Roy was born in Steveston, BC on Saturday, February 25, 1933 and passed away peacefully at Burnaby General Hospital on Monday, February 18, 2019. He was predeceased by his brother Kaoru and nephew Robert. Roy is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 61 years Tazuko Alice, son Ricky (Ellen), daughter Janet, grandchildren Christina (Rumell), Diane, Ciara (Jeff), Ashlyn and Glenn. Roy is survived by his brother Shizuo (Akemi), sister in-law Kazumi and many extended family members. Roy led a very fulfilling life. He was a popular landscaper and owned a successful business. In his spare time, he enjoyed travelling, softball, golfing, gardening and watching Japanese movies. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family and we will dearly miss him. Special thanks to the Doctors, nurses and staff at Burnaby General Hospital for their professional care and kindness. A Funeral Service will take place at the Vancouver Buddhist Temple, 220 Jackson Avenue in Vancouver on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Private Cremation. Koden and Flowers gratefully declined.
