    To the Wong Family:

   It has been a turbulent past 3 months for me and I really had no idea that my good friend Roy's death was only the beginning of the turbulence for me personally. In early November my mother was admitted to the hospital in Abbotsford for stomach pains. This was, as it turned out, advanced symptoms of pancreatic cancer which had been growing inside of her for quite awhile although the pain had been delayed. What I was struck with was the eerie similarity between her struggle and Roy's illness in the months and even years leading up to the diagnosis. Both, it seems, at some point simply stopped eating, or eating very little. Roy, I noticed, in 2009, my mother roughly the same time after a lung operation. When she finally died on December 10, her kidneys had shut down and she hadn't eaten anything substantial in almost a month. Roy, I believe, died under similar circumstances. It seems 2 stars very close to me have been lost from the sky in 2013. I would like to share with you a poem which my Dad used to announce her passing because I think it would be fitting for both of them.
    "Far beyond where winds have blown, waking into realms unknown
     Footsteps free of space and time, silent thunder, holy mind
     In the heart a song of peace and mercy calling me back home."

Roy will be forever loved and missed by our whole family. He always had a smile, a piece of good advice and was always ready to help. R.I.P. Uncle Roy

I hadn't seen Roy since school days but definitely remember him as a great guy! Saddened to hear he's gone.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Roy's passing. Our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.

I was in shock and very saddened by the news of Roy's passing.  Right from kindergarten.. he was built like a bull with the heart of a gentle giant. He had the best smile that could charm any teacher out of getting out of trouble and boy...could he make us all laugh out loud. He will truly be missed.. my sincere condolences to his family.  Rest in Peace.

I was very sorry to read about Roy's passing.  He will be remembered by us highschool gals as a happy, handsome and kind man.

Dearest Roy ... I remember your grand smile and cheeky words all through high school (and after).  Your impressive head of hair will also be remembered, Rest in peace Roy ... Sheila XO

This is very sad news and my heart goes out to his family during this time. Such a laid-back, easy going guy with loads of stories and a generous heart. I'll remember most how easily he laughed, how he always played Bob Marley on sunny days, and how he'd joyfully exclaim "outrageous!!!"

  Roy, I will remember your smile and easy laugh, on Friday which is Saint Micheal's Day, we will light candles for you in Italy.   To the Wong family, wrapping my arms around you in a huge cyber hug, may the sun shine on Friday and you share warm, memories that bring smiles to your faces.
