Russell George Gatehouse

August 28, 1961 – April 20, 2018

Russ passed away on April 20, 2018 with his love, Saki and his dog, Minnah by his side. He had been surrounded by family and friends until the end.

He was born in Kamloops, BC to George and Grace Gatehouse in August 1961. He lived in Kamloops and Barriere while growing up and graduated from Barriere Secondary School. While living in Barriere, he worked for BC Ambulance and Tolko Mill. When Tolko burned down in 2003, he moved to Vancouver to continue his passion of working as a paramedic, a job he loved!

Russ was predeceased by his mother, Grace in 1967 and his father in 1999. He is survived by his aunt Florence Debodt and his sisters Mary-Jane (Mark) Stenberg and Joan (Tom) Omasta. Nieces and Nephew Megan (Ryan) Sutherland, Jillian (Joshua) Sharp and Cameron (Sydney) Stenberg. His pride and joy Collin Hunh, Saki Kakutani and his best friend Minnah. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and great nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank all the staff at Vancouver General Hospital Palliative Care unit for the excellent care that Russ received while he was there. A service of remembrance will be held on June 2, 2018 at the Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home, 306 East 11th Ave, Vancouver BC at 1:00pm, a reception to follow.
