I'm flooded with fond memories of Auntie Tong.  She was the epitome of hard work!  I cannot recall Auntie Tong ever being idle.  She was very industrious for she possessed a strong work ethic!  Her hands were a testament of this!  Auntie Tong's pair of hands tirelessly prepared many wonderful meals for us.  She used "meal time" as a focal point to gather us youngsters together, brought us to the table as one unified body, and created opportunities for fellowship and lasting memories!

Moreover, I enjoyed her positive outlook on life.  Auntie Tong shared with me her trials and tribulations.  Despite going through many dark days, she reminded me that we need to entrust ALL things to God so we can develop a "heart of joy" in whatever lot the good Lord has given us individually.  Auntie Tong put into practice the old adage that "resentment comes from looking at others; contentment comes from looking at God."

Lastly, Auntie Tong's radiant smiles resonated from her trust in Jesus.  Her smiles were contagious!  She knew that she was never alone and that Jesus loved her deeply, thus she can smile at the temporal storms of life!

May Auntie Tong's resiliency in anchoring her hope in Jesus encourage us all to "fight the good fight, forget what lies behind, and finishing the course that is ahead."  One day we shall all sing with one accord a new heavenly song "on that beautiful shore."

Tong auntie is like a grandma to me.  Always cared for me, prayed for me, and treated me by her delicious cooking.  I treasured the time we had coffee, and meals together.  She always shared with me how she cared for many Vancouver brothers and sisters when they were young and were college students, how she cooked countless meals for them, how she cared for God's family; and now they are all grown-up, taking care of their children.  I missed Tong auntie dearly.  Now, Tong auntie, you are resting in the Lord's bosom.  We will meet in the clouds, and taste together the heavenly coffee.

I'm very thankful for Tong Auntie. For more than 20 years that I've known her, she had always been very kind and affectionate to me, always addressing me as "Hoy Sun".
"Hoy Sun, I pray for you to do well in school", "Hoy Sun, I pray that you can find the right job." "I pray for your wife, I pray for your son..."  I thank her always for lifting me up in prayer throughout my life.  I miss those times when I picked her up and we go to church meetings together. Those short, but meaningful chats in the car was nice.  And for countless times, I had dinner at her house. Thank you Tong Auntie for all those delicious meals made with love. We don't need any special reason to get together...we are family. For the first time, today I know what loosing a mother feels like....
Tong Auntie, congratulations, you are now resting in the Lord's bosom, which is better by far.  I look forward to our family reunion in the clouds. And in New Jerusalem, I'll invite myself to your mansion, and you are free to come to mine. At that time, my turn to do the cooking. God bless you much.

Tong Auntie told me that she prayed for me everyday.  I was very touched that someone would take the time everyday to ask for my needs.  For the rest of my life she will be remembered as one who genuinely cared for me and others.  For many Thanksgivings we tasted the  tofu and other things stuffed in turkey in her home.

As Mrs Tong herself said, there were not too many of us who haven't been treated by her cooking, I am one of those who had the privilege of tasting her delicious meals. I also had the blessing of having her to take care of my children when they were toddlers. Years later she still gave me sound parenting advice.
I treasure the gifts that she carefully chose with her good taste and put together with love. They are white head covering, table clothes and others.
In 2010 when life was so overwhelming and challenging, the gift from her warmed my heart and gave hope to face life challenges.
I sorely miss the chance to thank her for what she had given me all these years before she left for the Lord.
