Shoji Tanami passed away January 25, 2026 at Vancouver General Hospital with his family by his side. Shoji is survived by his 2 daughters Alisa (Murray), Jennifer (Eric), and two beautiful grandchildren, Sophie & Megumi. Shoji is predeceased by his devoted wife of 48 years, Fusako.
Shoji was born in Ucluelet, BC in 1927 to Kanekichi and Ai Tanami. His family was truly blessed to have such a devoted, caring, peaceful & steadfast person to guide them and be an example of how to move through life with grace.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21st at the Vancouver Japanese United Church, 4010 Victoria Drive, Vancouver BC at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers and Koden, donations may be made in Shoji's memory to The Vancouver Japanese United Church (www.vjuc.org).
