Tony Lap Foo Chan 陳立富

Tony was born March 20, 1950 in Macao, China to father Chan Hork Sun and mother Chan Lau Wai Kin. He grew up in Hong Kong, and immigrated to Vancouver, BC in 1971. In his first decade in Canada, he worked a variety of odd jobs, from dishwasher to fishmonger, and lived all over North America to put himself through school. He completed a Diploma in Computer Technology (1975) from Red River Community College in Winnipeg, Manitoba and a Bachelor of Science (1979) and Master of Science (1980) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri USA.

Tony launched his career as a professional engineer with brief periods as an Engineering Assistant at Saskatchewan Telecommunications and as a Summer Engineer at General Electric in Pennsylvania. He secured an engineering position with the British Columbia Telephone Company (later known as Telus) in Prince George, BC. He would eventually settle back in Vancouver after transferring to Telus headquarters to be closer to his family. During his 35 years at Telus, he formed many friendships which he enjoyed into retirement.

Tony was honest, hardworking and always willing to help others to the best of his ability. He had a lifelong love of electronics, innovation, and new technologies. He had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed being out in action, whether it be tinkering with entrepreneurship, going out for dim sum, or attending events and conferences.

In his heart, he was a family man. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and gathering his large extended family. He was the glue that brought his family together. Tony was the cherished husband of 40 years to Fen, devoted father to Elizabeth (Robert) and Linda (Wilfred), and proud grandfather to Christopher Tony, Luke Tony, Susan Mae, and Patrick William.

He is survived by his elder sister Selina; elder brother Lop Sang (Cynthia) and younger brother Lop Kan; eldest sister in law Shirley; eldest brother in law Allan, Ye Xue Min (and wife), nieces and nephews Joseph (Daisy), Brenda, Calvin (Grace), Willie, Nelson (Carlee), and Tina (Phillip), Ye Yun Wing, Michael, and Ye Yun Yeen; and great nieces and nephews Mei-Ling, Chicago, Amara, May, Athena, Aubrey, Jakob, and Malaki.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, father-in-law Ye Sek San, eldest brother Raymond, and eldest sister Annie.

We want to express our gratitude for the care received by the teams at the BC Cancer Agency and the Vancouver General Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd at 12:30pm at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver BC

陳立富先生於 1950 年 3 月 20 日出生於中國澳門,父親為陳學舜 Chan Hork Sun),母親

為陳劉慧堅(Chan Lau Wai Kin)。他在香港長大,並於 1971 年移民至卑詩省溫哥華。在

來到加拿大的第一個十年裡,他做過各式各樣的零工,從洗碗工到魚販,足跡遍及整個北

美,以此半工半讀完成學業 。他先後於曼尼托巴省溫尼伯的紅河社區學院(Red River

Community College)獲得電腦技術文憑(1975 年),並在美國密蘇里州哥倫比亞的密蘇

里大學獲得電機工程學士學位(1979 年)及碩士學位(1980 年)。

立富先生隨後展開了他的專業工程師生涯 。他曾短暫擔任薩斯喀徹溫電信公司(

Saskatchewan Telecommunications)的工程助理,以及賓夕法尼亞州通用電氣公司(

General Electric)的夏季工程師 。之後,他在卑詩省喬治王子城的卑詩電話公司(British

Columbia Telephone Company,即後來的 Telus 研科)成功任職工程師 。為了能更親近家

人,他後來調回溫哥華的 Telus 總部,並在溫哥華定居 。在 Telus 服務的 35 年間,他勤勤恳恳、兢兢业业，任劳任怨。他結 識了許多摯友,這些友誼一直延續到他退休後的生活 。

,無論是鑽研創業、出外品嚐點心,還是積極參與各類活動與會議 。

在內心深處,他是一位極其顧家的好男人 。他热爱大自然，经常和妻子一起走遍温哥华的景点，他热爱和女兒們與四個外孫子女相处，也喜歡與兄弟姊妹互動,並總是能將龐大的家族凝聚在一起 。他是整個家庭的核心與紐帶 。他是結縭 40 年妻子芬 Fen 的摯愛丈夫;女兒陳倩儀 Elizabeth(女婿 Robert)和陳美儀 Linda (女婿葉振華Wilfred)的慈父，他也是外孫子女 陳健偉Christopher Tony、葉勇強Luke Tony、陳健美Susan Mae 和 葉智強Patrick William 引以為傲的外祖父 。

他身後留下的至親包括:姐姐 Selina;哥哥 Lop Sang(嫂子 Cynthia)和弟弟 Lop Kan;

大嫂 Shirley;大姐夫 Allan;侄子、侄女、外甥及外甥女 Joseph(侄媳 Daisy)、Brenda

、Calvin(侄媳 Grace)、Willie、Nelson(侄媳 Carlee)和 Tina(外甥婿 Phillip);以及姪孫、姪孫女、外甥孫和外甥孫女 Mei-Ling、Chicago、Amara、May、Athena、Aubrey、

Jakob 和 Malaki 。外母余会燕、Brother in laws 葉學敏，brother in law’s wife劉蘭英，葉學維 brother in law’s wife 何麗卿。外甥：葉欣健，葉欣荣，葉欣彦。

在此之前,他的父親、母親、岳父葉石生，大哥 Raymond 和大姐 Annie 已先行離世。

我們衷心感謝卑詩癌症中心(BC Cancer Agency)和溫哥華綜合醫院(Vancouver General

Hospital)醫療團隊對立富先生無微不至的照顧 。

為紀念立富先生對大自然和公共設施的熱愛,我們懇辭鮮花,並正為溫哥華市公園局(
