

Vivian was born to her mother Laura (nee Band) and father Bert Ettershank on April 8, 1940 in North Vancouver, BC and was raised on Mission IR No. 1. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by love of her family on July 21, 2016. She descends from the Ettershank / Nahanee (Hall) and Band (Tsimbidis) / Hills (Lumley) families. Vivian was a Squamish Nation’s Home School Co-coordinator to many of our youth. She can best be remembered for her dedication and love for our cultural beliefs and traditions and shared amazing teachings and beliefs and supported many families. She first married James Joseph ‘Joey’ George and together raised their boys at Tsleilwaututh First Nation where they supported canoe, lacrosse and Ice Hockey. She later married Late Ignatius ‘Walker’ Stogan and from then forward continued to build and amazing dedication to families of the big house. She attended many Squamish Nation events and the Elders Gathering House functions for many years.
She is survived by her sons Derrick (Ivy), Bert and Joseph (Elizabeth); grandchildren Jacob, Adam, Ernie, Daniel, Joseph, Laura; step grandchildren Isaac, Tysheena, Tamara, Stacey, Kieneshia, Avianna, and Zachery and many loving relatives and dear friends.
A prayer service will be held on July 24, 2016 (Sunday) at 7:00 pm and a funeral Service on July 25, 2016 (Monday) at 10:00 am both at Chief Joe Mathias Centre 100 Capilano Road, North Vancouver, BC. On line condolences can be found www.glenhavenmemorialchapel.com
