It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Garry Prince. William was born to his parents Margaret (nee: Mathias Joe) and Robert William Prince on April 27, 1976, at the Stewart Lake Hospital in Fort St. James, BC. William grew up on the Nak’azdli Whut’en Reserve, Xwmélch’stn Reserve and Eshla7an Reserve. He attended Lonsdale Elementary, Westview Elementary and Carson Graham Secondary. When he was done with his schooling, he proudly worked with his father’s construction/carpentry business. They built and renovated many homes for the Squamish Nation. William loved every type of sport; Hockey (Canucks), Football (Miami Dolphins), UFC, Wrestling and of course Lacrosse (North Shore Indians). He not only loved to play Lacrosse, No. 71, but he loved to mentor and coach anybody who needed it. His greatest achievement was his son Damon; he even turned down a Draft from the NLL because he wanted to raise his son instead. William will best be remembered for his humor which made everyone laugh with his jokes. On Friday nights when his hype song “Ghetto Superstar” played, you knew it was time to play some Lacrosse. He was a gamer, loved to design shirts and to make his own music. He also enjoyed stringing Lacrosse sticks. At one point, William had a round blonde patch on his head, and his grandfather would make of fun of it and say it was where a bird pooped on him.
William is survived by his loving son Damon Prince (Maddi); Parents Bob & Margaret (nee: Mathias Joe) Prince;
siblings Donald Mathias, Wayland Mathias-Joe; and many loving family members and dear friends.
Following a meeting with family, the following arrangements have been made:
