

Born in Canton, China. In 1950 he came to Vancouver, Canada at the age of 21 where he found employment as a grocery store clerk.
In 1958 he met and married Yook King Lam. They had 3 children, Kelvin Kin Ming, Lawrence Jack Ming and Lorraine Pui Ha.
In the early 1960s he opened his own grocery store which he operated for over 25 years. After closing the store, he worked in Chinese herbal stores until he retired in the mid 1990s.
Throughout his life, George had an ambitious, curious and hungry mind. He immersed himself into learning through reading and experimenting. He acquired many skills through this learning.
He learned how to work on and repair almost everything in a household. That included plumbing, heating, electrical, carpentry, flooring and painting. He learned how to make furniture and how to play musical instruments. He loved reading, photography and travel in his later years. One of his other favorite pastimes was cooking, he loved to cook for his family and learned how to make hundreds of dishes.
George Yook Tong Ng passed peacefully in his sleep on December 30, 2019 at St Vincent Langara long term care home where he resided for the last 3 ½ years of his life. The family would like to thank the staff at St Vincent’s for the care and compassion that George received during his time there.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Yook King, sons Kelvin, Lawrence and daughter Lorraine;
2 Grandsons: Gregory(Tash) and Trenton(Natasha) Ng (Kelvin); 4 Grandaughters: Andrea and Tanya Ng (Kelvin), Nicole(Braden) and Melissa(Kieran) Macdonald. (Lorraine); 5 Great grandsons: Braden, Evan, Shaye, Micah and Cooper; 7 Great granddaughters: Maya, Kadyn, Faran, Livi, Charlee, Tessa and Izabel.
He had a long, hard working and rewarding life. He will forever be remembered and loved by family and friends.
