

The family lived in New Mexico but eventually moved to Los Angeles, CA where eventually, they settled in Ontario. He attended Chaffey High School where he was a standout Track & Field athlete and graduated in 1959. Upon graduating he continued his education and enrolled at Chaffey Community College.
Ben’s first job was selling the Sunday paper for the Los Angeles Times and Examiner. He took summer jobs harvesting local fruits and vegetables and had fond memories of summer vacations traveling to visit his grandmother, uncle, and aunt in Bogata and Marshall, TX.
Ben moved to Redwood City several years later to live with his aunt Eutopia. In Redwood City he met and married Catherine Gipson. He later moved to Portland, OR where he began his career in transportation at Radio Cab. While in Portland Ben met and married Sandye Brown on April 24, 1991.
Ben was always the adventurous type. He loved to travel to many places across the world. Ben accepted Christ as his Personal Savior and lived zealously for the Lord. He loved the Bible and its history. He attended Victory Outreach Ministries and Living Church.
Ben enjoyed learning and took Spanish classes and piano lessons for personal enrichment. Being a fan of nature, he enjoyed gardening and loved animals, especially his two cats and two birds. Ben was a caring man and loved to help those in need, which brought him great joy, never expecting anything in return. He always gave from the heart.
Ben fathered six children, Christopher, Kevin, Yvette, Vonda, Ronrico, and Kenneth Carr. He also has 10 grandchildren. He touched so many with his uplifting sparkling spirit that gravitated people to him. Ben will always be loved by family and friends.
