

John William Stott Jr, 93 of Vancouver Washington passed away peacefully on August 12th, 2012. He was born in Cardston, Alberta Canada on September 4th, 1918 to Jacoba & and John William Stott Sr. He had two brothers George Stott and Frank Stott and two sisters Mary Criger & Helen Stokes.
His early years were spent on his father’s 800 acre cattle ranch south of Cardston. John’s father allowed the school district to build a one room school on their property not far from their home. John attended that school until he reached the 9th grade when he transferred to the high school in Cardston where he lived with his grandmother.
After high school graduation he moved to La Grange, Illinois and lived with his Uncle and Aunt. During this time he obtained his Associates degree from Lion’s Township Junior College. He then served 24 months on an LDS mission in Ontario, Canada. There he met and married Audrey Sinclair. They moved to Murray, Utah and had two daughters EvLynn (Larry) Pearce and Josie (Shane) Schwendiman.
John gained employment in Kitchener, Ontario with B.F. Goodrich as a chemist. At this time he was drafted 3 times into the Canadian Army and each time the B.F. Goodrich company insisted they needed him in their war effort and he was brought home. John also worked for the 3M company acquiring property for their billboard advertising.
Audrey and John divorced and John moved to Vancouver, Washington. During the next 40 years John was predeceased by several wives and was most recently married to Alberta Fairbanks (Stott) for the last 24 years. John is survived by his children EvLynn Pearce and Josie Schwidenman, stepdaughters Tami Wagner and her sister Tandi, Julie Fairbanks, Lynn Stiefel, Anita Watson and stepson Clark Fairbanks. In addition John is survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John loved doing the lord’s work and served 3 missions in his lifetime. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends and serving others.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Vancouver Stake Center (10509 SE 5th St. Vancouver, Washington) August 20th, 2012 at 11 am with a reception following.
