
Born: February 23, 1926 in Norwalk, CT to George H. Howard, Sr. and Cora M. Howard.
Educated: Graduate of Norwalk High School in Norwalk, CT and Hill College in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He graduated with a business degree. He was employed by Milton H. Friedberg & Company in Bridgeport, CT and C.R. Gibson Co. in Norwalk, CT and retired after over 20 years as the Treasurer.
Service: He joined the United State Navy on February 23, 1943, serving on a destroyer escort as a Coxwain. He received the American Medal, Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal 3 stars.
Relatives: George was predeceased by his parents, sister Dean, and his first wife of 49 years Nancy Gager Howard. He is survived by his three sons, William G (Jeanine) of Norwalk, CT, David H (Violet) of North Haven, CT and James E of New Haven, CT. His second wife of 20 years Marianne Catto Howard and 5 grandchildren LeeAnn, Stephanie, Michael, David and Sarah. In addition a step son Michael J. Bernardi (Jennifer) of Port Charlotte, FL and 1 great grandchild.
Hobbies: Georg enjoyed tennis, slot machines, watching the NY Yankees, UCON Women’s Basketball Team, likes to do scratch off tickets and volunteering. He had many house of service at Norwalk Hospital and Englewood Community Hospital. He was a member of the Congregational Church in CT and attended Englewood United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Rotonda and the Englewood Elks
A celebration of life will be held October 23, 12 noon, at the Englewood United Methodist Church, Doan Chapel. Interment will be private a later date.
