Gustavo and Iveth cherished Jan as their mother and treasured her wisdom and advice for many years. Their daughters, Marcegui and Jepsa, became granddaughters of Jan’s heart. The girls and Jan shared many years of laughter, unconditional love and lifelong devotion.
Carlos and Gloria Guzman have also shared in Jan and Ron’s life as family. They experienced many joyful times with the Guzmans and their children, Elisama and Elias. Jan loved them very much.
Jan was preceded in death by her first husband Gary Emily (d.1972), and her late husband Ronald Davis (d. 2025). She is also predeceased by her parents Velma Jane Gray and “Gene” Warriner; her beloved brother Elmer Hess; her nephew Gregory Waggoner; and her brother-in-law James “JB” Emily.
As a child, Jan enjoyed spending time with her brother, Elmer, often exploring beyond the boundaries of their neighborhood in Seymour. As a young woman, Janice was baptized at First Baptist Church where she met her first love, Gary Emily. They married and rejoiced in the births of their two daughters. Tragically, their joyful life together was brief. Gary, an avid outdoorsman, passed away shortly after the birth of their second daughter. Janice, even though heartbroken, persevered to create a safe, loving and happy home for her daughters. They spent many summers camping, fishing and horseback riding at CERAland with Gary’s parents and family, swimming at the city pool and traveling to find adventure wherever they could. Although she was raising her girls on her own, she made certain that her children had a wonderful childhood full of family and faith.
In 1979, Jan attended IV Technical College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1981, Janice married Ronald Davis. She became a stepmother to his children and together they created a loving home and larger family. They worked as a team at RWD Service, Jan in the office and Ron running service calls. In 2015, Ron and Jan purchased a home in Florida and spent much time there, moving down permanently in 2025.
Jan lived a life that was consistent with her relationship with Jesus. She was an excellent example of a believer, living her faith throughout her life. Jan will be remembered for her generosity and servant’s heart, dedicating her life to ministry, faithfully participating in the mission of the Latino church, and investing in the lives of children in the nursery and as an Awana leader. She was also known for her wonderful sense of humor, her determined spirit and her commitment to doing even the smallest things with wholehearted effort. Lastly and most importantly, Jan will be remembered for her deep love for Jesus and the devotion she showed to her children, grandchildren and everyone she loved.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, June 20, 2026, at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jan’s memory to Iglesia Bautista El Calvario c/o Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour, IN. Supporting this ministry honors her greatest wish: that others would come to know Jesus’ love, grace, and salvation.
