John W. McConnell passed away on August 30,2021 at the age of 86. He is survived by his first wife Phyllis (nee Shaw), two of his sons Joseph (Mary Ann), John jr. and stepson Benjamin (Karen). Predeceased by his oldest son William and his second wife Rita (nee Hoffstein). Dear brother of Jerry (Jacque) McConnell of Colorado, Lester (Kelly) McConnell and Pat (Tommy) Cloyd and the late James (Vicki) McConnell all of Missouri. Proud Pop-Pop Of Jay of North Carolina, Caitlyn of Philadelphia, and John III of Philadelphia.
After high school in Saint Louis, Mo. John joined the Coast Guard in 1954. In 1958 he left and started a family. John worked at the Philadelphia ship yard, Audubon Heating, Sears, and Lakehurst Naval Station where he retired. He moved to Florida with Rita, his wife and boon companion for over 40 years. Gardening, some traveling and enjoying life with their Bichon Frise was a great retirement for them. He was a valued friend and neighbor in his community and will be missed by all.
