

Robert (Bob) Leroy Booth, 84, of Englewood, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024. He was born on October 10, 1940 in Sanford, Maine to Beatrice M (Dubois) and Leroy W Booth. He attended Sanford schools and graduated in 1959. Prior to joining the Navy, Bob was a fireman apprentice and enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends.
In the Navy, Bob served aboard the USS Hornet in the Western Pacific. This aircraft carrier visited Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. He was fortunate enough to serve his time prior to the start of the Vietnam War and didn’t have to face combat.
In 1965, Robert married Sandra Ruth Chick and they started a family in Rochester New Hampshire. After Bob’s father passed, he moved his family across the street from his mother on Mount Hope Road, in Sanford, Maine. Bob took care of both households for many years.
In 2000, Bob and Sandy moved to sunny Florida. They spent the rest of their time living in the Venice and Englewood area. Bob was a lifelong member of the Elks Club and enjoyed playing horseshoes, pool, and darts. Bob and Sandy spent 60 years going out to eat, eating ice cream at the jetty, and holding hands.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sandy, and three children; Brian (Cathy) Booth of Boynton Beach, Florida; Brenda (Steve) Chapman of Englewood, Florida; and Eric Booth of Sanford, Maine. He has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Club House of the Polynesian Village at 2pm.
