He enlisted in the Marine Corps soon after the onset of World War II and remained in active duty until November of 1944. He was in the First Marine Division and participated in the capture and occupation of Guadacanal, Cape Gloucester, and Peleliu.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Linda of Holland, Michigan, and his son, Ronald and daughter-in-law Ampy of North Port, Florida. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mona.
Funeral services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Monday, February 7th. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will follow his memorial service.
