So sorry for your loss, my family and I send all the best to you. Although I have not had a chance to see Roy since his retirement, he left a big impact on me as a young teacher at Shaker High School. He still has many of us laughing about some of his funny stories. I certainly can't look at a seafoam green lab coat without thinking of him. Nor one of his prized ties that he handed out on his retirement -- "my ties" all laid out on a table in the office. But most importantly it was the students he helped over his years in the classroom who he undoubtedly made a difference with.  Peace and good health.

I have so many fond memories of Roy from Shaker High School.   As a biology teacher trying to teach Earth Science lab, Roy made sure I didn't make a fool of myself in front of the kids each week.  He was mostly successful!  I was a computer user, but he did not like "p'duters," and we had a lot of laughs over that.  His lab coat was well worn and he wore it well! My deepest sypathies. 

Roy had a way of making everyone laugh. I am so glad I got to meet such a wonderful man. He made a permanent mark on my heart. Going to miss him so much.

I was so sad today to here of Roy’s passing.   We spent many hours together at Shaker trying help the kids of North Colonie get through the earth science curriculum.   There are so many funny memories as we tried to get through those long teaching days.   Roy wasn’t fond of the computer or the early days of the internet so he hung a fish net between our two desks so people could post their internet messages, or the time he decided to microwave his white fish lunch a little too long in the hall office.   We a had great time and a day didn’t go by that Roy didn’t try to put a smile on someone’s face.   I miss those days. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  I am so sorry for your loss. I taught with Roy at Shaker High School in the Science dept for many years.  We had many laughs together and the commaraderie in our department was partially due to Roy. He was a positive influence. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

Dear Maryann and Family,
It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Roy Markowski.  When I came to the North Colonie School District and Shaker High School in 1988, Roy helped me to become a better earth science teacher.  Roy became my mentor and helped me more than I can possibly tell you.  I was a biology major and needed all the help with earth science that I could get. Roy was a great teacher and he taught me how to teach earth science and have fun in the process.  Even thou I have not kept in touch with Roy since his retirement from Shaker High School, he was always in my thoughts and in my heart.  The world has lost a great human being, educator, husband and father.  God Bless Roy and the rest of his family!

MaryAnn, Chris, Michael and Matt,   So sorry to hear of Roy’s passing.  Remembering the many times Joe and I spent at your home enjoying the friendship of our sons. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Roy was a wonderful person.

Roy was a very “special” friend. He adored his wife and was a devoted father and grandfather. Roy never spoke an unkind word and his smile was so up lifting. He brought joy to all who had the pleasure of spending time with him.  He was easy going and at times pretty funny! Roy was one of a kind! We shed tears because we miss him. We celebrate because we know Roy is in heaven. We pray that God will comfort MaryAnn and the family; at this difficult time.
