Allen was born on April 19, 1925 to Emil and Margaret Homburg Rupp in Detroit, MI. He was the 3rd of 4 sons. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps, where he served as an aircraft mechanic. He was stationed all over the United States during his service. While he was stationed in Burbank, he had the good fortune of meeting his future bride, Crystal Priester. They married in 1947 at Hollywood Lutheran Church. Shortly thereafter, they moved back to Allen’s hometown of Detroit to begin their family. They were blessed with seven children of their own and they also fostered many more newborns and toddlers. Allen owned Detroit Machinery Exchange, a machinery repair business in the heart of downtown Detroit. After 30 years in Detroit they returned to the place they fall in love, and Crystal’s home state of California. For the next 30 years they resided in Oxnard, CA. Allen worked at Bank of A. Levy for 8 years until he retired in 1988. Allen enjoyed volunteering at the church, and bowling in his weekly bowling league. They moved to Santa Paula in 2005 where he lived out the rest of his days.
His beloved wife of 65 years, Crystal Rupp, and 6 children, Karen (Paul) Muller, Fredrick (Lynn), Adele (James) Kirtley, Russell, Laura Rupp-Gyori, and Janeen, survive Allen. He was the grandfather of 16 and the great-grandfather of 6. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert (Mary Lou) and Edward, as well as many nieces and nephews. His parents, his brother Warren, his son Douglas, and his grandson Steven preceded him in death.
There will be a memorial service at 1pm on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at First Assembly of God Church, 346 N. Kimball Road, Ventura, CA 93004. A light luncheon will follow the service.
