

Audrey H. Black, 89, passed away May 8, 2015, at her home in Ventura after a brief illness. She was born in Richland, Oregon, January 25, 1926 to George E. “Leggs” and Opal Marie Hall. She attended Sunnyside School, Eagle Valley High School both in Richland, Oregon and received her BA degree in Education from Eastern Oregon State College in La Grande, OR.
Audrey and her late husband Tom moved to California in 1954. She has been a longtime Ventura resident for more than 60 years. Before retiring in 1989, Audrey was an elementary grade school teacher for 32 years in Ventura County. In her retirement years she loved spending time with her children and her many grandchildren. Audrey had a special gift for sewing and other art projects and she loved watching her three dachshunds play in the yard.
Her husband Thomas Black of Ventura, son Glenn Black of Palm Springs and great-grandson Ryan Glenn Jeffers of Palm Springs preceded Audrey in death.
She is survived by son Doug Black (Tanya) of Palm Springs, daughters Lynda Black of Ventura, Donna Black of Palm Springs and Barbara Medina (Steve) of Ventura; grandchildren, Ryan Jeffers, Tim Jeffers (Paty), Christine McIlrevey (Bryan), Jason Medina, Jenna Harris (Brandon) Taylor Medina, Casey Black, Kalley Medina, Jessica and Ashley Black and eight great-grandchildren.
We want to extend our sincere appreciation to our friend Raul Castro of Ventura and Oakhurst Hospice who helped make Mom’s last days pleasant and happy. This was a great comfort to our family.
Arrangements are under Charles Carroll Funeral Home in Ventura. At the request of Audrey there will be no service. Her ashes will be sprinkled at China Springs in Eagle Valley, Oregon.
