Bob was born January 4, 1918, in Los Angeles, CA to Clarence C. and Jennie L. (Vaughn) Jackson. He grew up in Long Beach with his two brothers, Ken and Richard, both of whom preceded him in death. Bob joined the Army in 1942 and served until the end of World War II, at which time he returned to Southern California, where he attended the University of Redlands. He graduated in 1948 with a B. S. in Business Administration. He worked for the County of Ventura as a Social Worker until his retirement.
In 1949, Bob married Virginia Hills. They moved to Ventura County in 1957. Together they raised their family in a happy home filled with love and laughter. They had been married 44 years when Virginia passed away in 1993. Bob was a loving and supportive father to his family. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in- law, Beth and Robert Saccomman of Katy, Texas, Laura and Marty Anderson of Alamosa, CO and Karen and David Schumaker of Camarillo, CA; six grandchildren, Marla Anderson Sullivan, Kenneth Anderson, Matthew Schumaker, Christopher Schumaker, Amara Wickham and Victoria Wickham Spain; Bob also has had the joy of knowing and loving four wonderful great-grandchildren, Jacob and Sean Sullivan and Austin and Ashton Anderson. He also dearly loved his nieces and nephews and cherished the family time spent at the Hills' Ranch through the years. Many happy family memories were made during the annual vacation at Napili Bay in Maui.
Bob loved gardening and wood working projects. He dearly loved teaching his grandchildren to grow prize-worthy vegetables, teaching them to build sturdy birdhouses and boats, but most of all, he loved teaching them to drive! Bob was a lifelong avid Dodger fan and enjoyed going to games with his grandson Matt.
Bob was 32nd degree Mason. He became a Mason with the Evergreen Lodge #259 in Riverside, and was currently a member of Santa Paula Masonic Lodge #291 F. & A.M. and a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Channel Islands Chapter, #78. He met his wife Clare at Eastern Star, and during their short years together they enjoyed participating in the Masonic organizations and traveling with Clair's daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jim Lotspeich.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at The Palms Memory Care Unit. Bob particularly enjoyed Jen, Christina, Maria, Brandi and Maria Teresa.
A private service was held at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
