Elaine Esther Cox

A resident of Ventura for 81 years, Elaine came here from Idaho in 1931. She attained her Bachelors degree from the University of Redlands. For thirty years Elaine was a surgical nurse at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura; where she was on the first “open heart” surgical team.

Elaine loved crocheting, reading, sewing, gardening, travel (cruises!), crossword puzzles and family BBQs. Above all she loved her family. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; brother Adrian Kolkman and sister Dorothy Hill. She now leaves behind her husband, of 57 years, Richard “Art” Cox; sister: Viola Kolkman; brother: William Kolkman; sons: Rick (wife Glenda) Cox and Larry (wife Lisa) Cox; daughter: Karen (husband Mike) Skall; grandchildren: Kyle and Jennifer Cox, Michelle, Heather and Megan Cox; Amber and Daniel T. Skall and great-grandson: Daniel S. Skall.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 18th at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
