

Theresa was born November 21, 1929, to John and Agnes Higgins in Chicago, IL. She was the oldest of six daughters and one brother of her Irish immigrant parents. She attended Catholic school on the South Side of Chicago.
She married Marshall N. Collins (Bud) at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church on May 28, 1949. In the 25 years that her husband was in the Air Force she traveled extensively with Bud and their four children. They all settled in Ventura in 1965.
Theresa is survived by daughters, Maureen Bodine, Barbara Schiffner and her husband Mike; son, Kevin Collins and wife Nancy; daughter-in-law, Debbie Collins; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sisters, Rita, Barbara, and Joan.
She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Collins who passed away on June 22, 2013; sisters, Mary Frances and Noreen; and brother, Jackie.
Theresa was a parishioner of Our Lady of Assumption and was a proud member of the Young Ladies Institute (YLI). Theresa was very proud of her Catholic Irish heritage and a deep devotion to St. Theresa (The Little Flower).
We thank the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, for taking such good care of her the last several months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local hospice organization of your choice.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Road, Ventura, on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 12 noon; reception to follow in the Santa Cruz room.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
