

James Perry Findley, 92, of Oxnard, passed away at home on Friday, October 9, 2015, with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born June 29, 1923, to G.C. and Viola Fendley, in Clem, Georgia and resided in Ventura County since1960. James graduated from Roopville High School and soon after joined The United States Army. He served as a paratrooper with the 82ND and 101ST Airborne Regiments in WWII and the Korean War.
James grew up on a farm in rural Georgia and after retiring from the Army carried on his love of farming at his beloved “Starpoint” ranch in Santa Paula growing Christmas trees and later tending to his avocado orchard. He loved nature and the outdoors. He also worked for civil service at the CBC Naval Base Port Hueneme until 1979.
James was preceded in death by his stepson, Vincent James Lugani. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sita; stepdaughter, Shanti; stepson, Paul and wife Naomi, of Cupertino; daughter, Linda and husband, Larry Curtis, of Lake Forest; daughter, Irene and partner, Larry, of Parsippany, NJ; daughter, Cathy and husband John Taylor, of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Christina and husband Kevin Logan, Natalia, Regina, Nina, Alexander, Sarah and husband Ricky Ephram; and great grandchildren, Noah, Nicole and Jared.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2015, 11:00a.m., at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating. The United States Army will render military honors.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
