Jerold Barret Reed is our hero. Jerold went to heaven Sunday, October 28, 2018. He died of natural causes, a blood clot in his leg that went to his lungs. Jerold was 43 years old, and was a friend to all that met him. His family nickname was J Boo.
Jerold was born in Ojai, Ca. on October 13, 1975. Jerold was so strong, at the hospital; the nurses were surprised when newborn Jerold was doing pushups in the bassinette.
Jerold lived in Ventura County and received his Associates degree from Ventura College. He worked as a soil inspector for his professional career. Jerold played football at Ventura High School, winning CIF Championship; he was passionate about sports. His favorite football team was the Kansas City Chiefs. Jerold knew the teams, players and stats of all sports, a true sports fanatic. He gave back by developing the athletic program (football and basketball) at his daughter’s primary school, St Sebastian, Santa Paula.
Jerold loved music. He influenced others to listen to the latest and newest artists. He loved to sing and had an amazing voice, starting early singing “Roxanne, you don’t have to put on the red light”, at age 2 years old. Jerold would be the first one dancing at any party, celebration or in the street. He could bust a move, especially wearing the olive and black polka dot MC Hammer pants.
Jerold had the biggest heart and the biggest bear hug. Jerold was kind and entertaining. Everyone he met got a nickname and an inside joke to share.
He was best friend to his daughter, Mia Reed and a devoted son and brother to his family. He kept cherished friendships since preschool and continued to collect friends wherever he went. And wherever he went, the room got louder!
Jerold is survived by his daughter and best friend, Mia Reed, his parents Meg and Pete Larramendy, Rich and Sharon Reed, brothers Dustin and Patrick Reed, Richie, Karen and Ethan Reed; step siblings Tonya, John, Ethan and Owen Peralta, Nathan and Nick Larramendy, Britt Larramendy, and Alex and Brezlynn Larramendy. Also survived by immediate McAuliffe family of 14 aunts and uncles and 13 cousins (only 1 girl, Erin); immediate Reed family of 8 aunts and uncles and 8 cousins. Also survived by pets: Einar, Rose Rainbow, Betsy Ross, Cheddar, Eaty and recently acquired Barret.
